Today, the Texas Transportation Commission voted to pass an advance funding agreement between Harris County and TxDOT for the development, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of toll lanes and interchanges on Segment E of the Grand Parkway (SH 99), between I-10 and US 290. As described under item 6f of the TTC meeting agenda, the agreement states that Harris County agrees to pay for, develop, operate, and maintain the segment of tollroad, but that if, in the future, TxDOT takes ownership of the road, then TxDOT will reimburse the county its costs.
Mary Anne Piacentini of The Katy Prairie Conservancy and Jay Blazek Crossley of Houston Tomorrow both spoke in objection to the agreement during the meeting’s public comments period.
