The Sustainable Cities Design Academy (SDCA) is calling for public-private development partnership project teams to apply for design workshops by February 22, according to the academy’s 2010 application.
The application notes that successful applicants will attend one of three workshops:
Seattle, Washington | May 5-7
Washington, DC | August 11-13
Chicago, Illinois | November 14-16
According to the American Architectural Foundation, which created the academy in partnership with United Technologies Corporation, the academy was created to do the following:
This new initiative will provide leadership development and technical assistance to local community leaders engaged in planning a sustainable building project in their communities. Through the Sustainable Cities Design Academy, the AAF seeks to educate, inspire and support local government, business and community leaders and developers and provide them with the resources and tools they need to develop long-term solutions for the built environment in our ever-changing world.
The application also elaborates on the two and a half day interactive suite:
AAF will bring together four sustainable design project teams from four Northeast corridor cities and eight top sustainable design leaders to participate in a two and a half day interactive institute. Project teams will present their work and engage in discussions and charrettes with the sustainable designers experts. The objective of these exercises is to help participants analyze their designs, identify issues, and discover best practices and emerging trends that are applicable to their projects.
