A Plan Houston public hearing will be held before the final step is taken by City Council to adopt Houston’s first general plan. According to the City of Houston Planning Department:
Houston is at the final step in the adoption of its first general plan known as Plan Houston. Plan Houston includes a vision and goals for Houston’s future, and the City’s strategies for achieving that vision. Once adopted, the plan will help the City make better public policy decisions.

After extensive planning efforts by the City’s Planning and Development Department, the General Plan Steering Committee and lots of public input, PlanHouston was unanimously approved by the Houston Planning Commission and this final adoption by City Council and Mayor Parker will make it law. The plan will then guide all public policy decisions in order to steer the City of Houston toward a successful future.
