Through a program between Catskill farmers and the Watershed Agriculture Council, New York City metro residents who buy “Pure Catskills”-branded products know they are supporting local agriculture and the farmers who keep local water resources clean. The Pure Catskills initiative is a unique land protection and environmental stewardship program that also provides consumers with a local food map, farmers markets, stores, restaurants, and other resources to help them locate products from farms that participate in this local food and water stewardship program, and the area businesses that support them.
