For the first time in a decade in the Houston region, Metro has installed new light rail track beginning the actual construction of the Southeast Line, one of five new lines being constructed across the urban core of the Houston region, according to Metro’s Facebook page.
[Ed. Note: This story was corrected on Wed, August 10, 2011 at 12:03 pm, upon notice from Metro that the line under construction is the Southeast Line. We incorrectly reported that it was the North Line.]
Also, the Houston Chronicle reports on this development as well as on the prospects for $900 million in federal funding for light rail and on the Metro board’s recent approval of a bond sale of up to about $463 million for rail construction.
