Local politicians seek interstate designation for 290

Could mean more fed funding

Local politicians, including US Representative John Culberson, are asking the Texas Department of Transportation request that the Federal Highway Administration designate US 290 as a federal interstate highway, to make it eligible for more federal funding including the recently locally controversial Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality funding, according to the Houston Chronicle.
