Laura Spanjian, as the City of Houston’s Sustainability Director, is responsible for directing and coordinating projects and initiatives that improve air, land, and water quality; supporting and expanding renewable energy, energy efficiency, green buildings, recycling and composting; alternative and clean transportation; local food production; and more livable and vibrant neighborhoods.
She discussed Houston’s Sustainability Program and more during a Wednesday, July 28 event at the Houston-Galveston Area Council building. The event, part of Houston Tomorrow’s monthly Livable Houston Initiative, drew a standing-room only crowd, which seemed to enjoy and feed off of Laura’s obvious energy and passion for making Houston a more sustainable city.
