On Wednesday, Houston City Council will consider parts of the proposals developed by the Houston Department of Planning and Development in response to the Ashby high rise controversy, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The ordinance, as explained at a Planning and Development website, would disallow development in predominantly single family home neighborhoods of projects with a finished floor higher than 74’ and require wider buffers and other design features for high rises reaching up to that height, except in areas newly designated as major activity centers (MACs), such as Downtown and Greenspoint.
Some neighborhood leaders are expressing concern with the ordinance as it will be proposed as noted in an op ed in the Houston Chronicle.
