$3.5M TIP Funding

Houston’s bike share system, Houston BCycle, will be adding 71 new stations thanks to a $3.5 million grant through the H-GAC TIP Call for Projects, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Houston BCycle is opening up the process of selecting the best locations through an online wiki at WikiMapping. They have proposed a set of stations, but are asking the public to comment on those stations, propose alternate stations, and vote on their favorites. Help design the new system.

Houstonians checked out a bike just under 100,000 times in 2015, according to the Houston Chronicle, with three stations on the Bayou Greenways trails seeing the highest ridership at over 10,000 checkouts each.

Houston BCycle has also offered to work with developers to allow sponsored stations, according to this sentence on the WikiMapping page:

If you are a business or developer and want a station near you, and can help sponsor it, please click this link: How do I get a station?
