Green jobs and green job training are on the rise, according to an article in The Nation. Windmills, solar plants, and other clean technologies provide construction and maintenance jobs as well as decent salaries. A number of American manufacturing plants that lost jobs to overseas competitors are now producing components for renewable energy, although the current recession has slowed production. The article notes that proponents received little assistance from the Bush administration, but they hope to receive much more help from the Obama administration, starting with the proposed economic recovery package.
