The Federal Highway Administration will be receiving public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Segment B of the Grand Parkway on August 21, according to The Alvin Sun-Advertiser:
The DEIS addresses potential environmental impacts of the construction and operation of Segment B on the Grand Parkway. The FHWA, in association with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Grand Parkway Association (GPA), will hold one Public Hearing over two nights to solicit comments relating to environmental issues presented in the DEIS. Identical information will be presented both nights. The meeting for the Alvin area will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Alvin High School, 802 South Johnson Street.
From 6-7 p.m., attendees will be able to review informational displays, ask questions and sign up to make comments. At 7 p.m., the Public Hearing, including a brief presentation discussing an overview of the document and its findings will begin.
The purpose of the Public Hearing is to receive input and comments on relevant issues that should be addressed in the Final Environmental Impact Statement. The hearing will provide an opportunity to make oral and written comments. Both written and oral comments will be considered equally. If comments are submitted in writing, it is not necessary to repeat comments orally. Those wishing to make an oral comment will be asked to submit a speaker registration card at the registration table. Oral comments will be limited to three minutes so that every speaker who wishes to speak has an opportunity to speak. Unused time may not be yielded to another speaker, each speaker must face the court reporter for transcript accuracy and each speaker will be asked not to repeat comments made by previous speakers. Speakers will be asked to limit comments to issues relevant to the Segment B DEIS. Responses will not be made at the Public Hearing.
All interested persons are invited to comment on the DEIS. The document is on file and available for review at the following area locations or by downloading from www.grandpky.com: -Alvin Library, 105 South Gordon and Manvel Library, 205148 State Hwy. 6.
All interested persons are invited to attend this hearing to express their views and voice their comments. Persons interested in attending the hearing that have special communication or physical accommodation needs are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Public Information Officer at 713-802-5072 at least two days prior to the hearing. Because the Public Hearing will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least two days prior to the Public Hearing. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs. The TxDOT office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. excluding State of Texas holidays. To be included in the public record, written comments must be submitted by Sept. 26 to: -Grand Parkway Association, Attention: Segment B Comments, 4544 Post Oak Place, Suite 222, Houston, TX, 77027.
