George Greanias is now President and CEO of Metro, after the board of directors voted last Thursday to make the job permanent, as reported at Guidry News:

“It’s an honor that I have this opportunity to make this proposal to our board,” said Jim Stewart, who made the motion, noting that Greanias has earned the title after three months as interim president. “He has helped to guide METRO in a new direction with a renewed focus on its core mission.”

“He came in under very extreme circumstances,” agreed METRO Chair Gilbert Garcia. “I have seen him handle it with grace, with dignity, very thoughtful working with everyone.”

“It has been a real honor to work with this group,” Greanias said after the vote. “We have a great organization with a critical mission.”

Greanias will work without a “parachute” contract at the same salary he was making as interim president. Documents related to his employment are being posted on the METRO website.

The Metro Board also approved a plan to implement streaming broadcasts of all board and committee meetings, and public hearings taking place at the Metro Board Room, according to the Guidry news report.
