The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is initiating $2.3 billion for the new round of grants for high-speed rail, reports UrbanCincy. The applications process will be open through Friday, August 6, 2010.
In the first round of high-speed rail funding this year, the biggest winners were California ($2.3 billion), Illinois/Missouri ($1.1 billion), Illinois/Wisconsin ($823 million). Texas secured a small grant for $4 million, compared to the Ohio 3C corridor connecting Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, which obtained a $400 million grant.
