Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the city and county of Denton are wrapping up negotiations over a proposed passenger rail line, according to the Dallas Morning News. DART wants to use a corridor in Denton for its $314 million “A-Train” connecting Denton to the rest of the DART system in Carrollton.
The agencies have reached agreements on most of the issues, including transferring rail rights in the corridor to DART. Unresolved is the time frame for the agreement and what happens once that time frame has expired.
The Morning News reports:
The agencies, for the most part, have finalized issues of operations, the dispatching of vehicles and other technical details. The ongoing negotiations will not affect construction of the rail, said DART spokesman Morgan Lyons.
