City of Houston Mayor’s Race Begins

All of the current major candidates for City of Houston Mayor in the November 2009 election appeared on stage together at an Urban Land Institute - Houston meeting open only to members.

KUT’s Rod Rice moderated the discussion and presented four questions prepared by ULI for the candidates on transit-oriented development, updating the City’s form-based code, tax abatement and other incentives that could be used to encourage transit-oriented development, and the relative importance of infrastructure, workforce housing, and sustainability.

The candidates are City Council Member Peter Brown, Gene Locke, Harris County Department of Education Trustee Roy Morales, and City Controller Annise Parker. Below is an mp3 recording of the event that you can listen to on this page or download, but it is an 84mb file.
