The City of Austin is using 100% renewable energy, mostly west Texas wind energy, to power it’s municipal buildings, making it the largest local government to go completely renewable, according to Smart Planet.

The City of Houston, which is about four times larger than the City of Austin in terms of population, continues to use the most absolute amount of renewable energy for a local government, according to the Huffington Post.
