Christus Health is moving its Houston and San Antonio headquarters to Irving, TX for a variety of reasons. The ease of air travel, the availability of DART public transportation, availability of a wide range of housing options in the DFW area, and quality of life considerations all factored into the company’s choice, according to The Houston Business Journal:
Most of Christus’ employees at the two corporate offices in Houston and the corporate office in San Antonio, as well as the hospital system’s associates based in other locations, will be requested to move to the Dallas area, said Linda McClung, chief administrative officer.
Between 700 to 800 Houston corporate employees will move to the Dallas area, however, the company will still keep its Houston hospital and ministry employees.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area beat out Houston, San Antonio and Austin for the corporate headquarters site, she said.Locating all of the hospital system’s services and corporate associates in one location will allow them to work together more effectively, said Ernie Sadau, president and CEO of Christus Health.
“We decided to bring our system offices together in one location because change is a necessity,” Sadau said. “We have all witnessed the dramatic changes going on in the health care industry, even in our world, and we know that CHRISTUS must be prepared not only to respond, but to lead these changes.”A task force composed of board members, corporate leadership, members of Christus’ sponsoring Catholic congregation and external consultants worked to examine all aspects of moving to one central office, McClung said.
