Urban land expert Christopher Leinberger of the Brookings Institution will highlight Central Houston’s 27th annual meeting. Leinberger will focus on “Investing in Urbanism,” a topic he has explored in his book The Option of Urbanism, Investing in a New American Dream

Leinberger is a noted land use strategist and developer, and is an expert in downtown development and design strategy. He makes the case that what he calls “walkable urbanism” is the ascendant market paradigm and that what he calls “drivable sub-urbanism” is in decline.

The luncheon will also include speakers City of Houston Mayor Annise Parker, and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, .

The event will be held on Tuesday, October 5, at the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.Tickets are available online or by contacting Edith Tejada via .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or at 713-650-1470.

Note: Central Houston is also asking people to participate in a brief online survey on downtown Houston, the results of which will be used by Leinberger at the luncheon.
