IRVING, TX—Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White says local governments can better solve their transportation problems.
White’s comments came in an address to an Annual Transportation Infrastructure Summit in Irving on Tuesday.
The former Houston mayor says that allowing local governments and voters to decide what their communities need will help prioritize transportation projects.
However, he also criticized Gov. Rick Perry, his opponent, and the Texas Department of Transportation leadership for failing to resolve the non-local traffic issues statewide. White says the state can’t grow without solving its transportation problems and mentioned the need for high-speed rail service throughout the state.
