A Houston Business Journal article reports:

A subsidiary of AT&T Inc. will begin broadcasting Texas House legislative sessions via its U-verse television system.

The broadcasts will be available on channel 99, AT&T’s public, educational and government programming channel for U-verse.

The trial program will begin in mid-April and is available to U-verse customers in parts of Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland and Odessa and numerous suburban communities in those metro areas.

Equipment vendor ViewCast of Plano will partner with Dallas-based AT&T (NYSE: T) to televise the hearings through the end of the legislative session on June 1. As part of the trial program, both companies have agreed to televise the sessions at no cost to the state.

The Texas legislative sessions will be the first state government proceedings that AT&T has broadcast to its customers statewide anywhere in the country, according to the communications holding company.
