Houston Tomorrow publishes notes from public meetings to help local governments in their mission to provide transparency and to allow a greater pool of Houstonians to participate in important policy discussions. These notes are not official meeting minutes, nor do they record every agenda item.
Note: The Commissioners Court covers a wide variety of topics. Houston Tomorrow only reports on issues relating to land use, quality of life, and transportation. Questions or comments regarding agenda items are discussed during the meeting, and some items may be removed. At the end the commissioners vote on the agenda as a whole.
Commissioners Court agenda
The Harris County Commissioners Court considered 17 engineering contracts worth $11.9 million for Segment E of the Grand Parkway. The contracts are listed below. Art Storey, head of the Harris County Public Infrastructure Department, informed the commissioners that the county received a signed copy of the advance funding agreement from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) earlier in the morning. As a result, he recommended approving the contracts. There were no public comments.
The Commissioners Court unanimously approved the contracts along with the rest of the agenda.
Two weeks ago, the commissioners approved $9.8 million in engineering contracts despite the absence of a signed agreement. Storey informed the commissioners at the time that the Texas Transportation Commission had approved a minute order directing the executive director to sign the agreement, but that the order had not yet been carried out.
