Vision North Texas will be hosting the 2010 Regional Summit on March 5 at the University of Texas-Arlington. Registration is required (via the Vision North Texas website); the sessions are free and the luncheon costs $40. Below is a description of the event from the website:
Through Vision North Texas, leaders and experts around the region have worked together to imagine a future that is better than the one predicted by current trends and projections. They have created a vision for a preferred future and a practical set of action steps North Texans can take to achieve this vision.
These important recommendations will be included in “North Texas 2050”, a major new ‘gamebook’ for our region that will be released at UTA Maverick Activities CenterRegional Summit 2010. “North Texas 2050” reflects the ideas and recommendations of people who have spent thousands of hours participating in Vision North Texas because they are concerned about the future of our region. Participants from 16 counties, representing many diverse interests, all contributed to this important new vision for our region. In addition, “North Texas 2050” has been shaped by research and the experience of experts in transportation, land use and development, housing, the environment, health and all the other issues that will determine how livable and successful North Texas will be in the coming decades.
Regional Summit 2010 is the culmination of Vision North Texas activities that began with a regional workshop in 2005. At the summit, regional leaders will share their responses to these recommendations and the steps they intend to take so the future depicted in “North Texas 2050” will become a reality. Participants will contribute their own perspectives and design their own strategies for a future that is better than ‘business as usual’.
Please join your friends, neighbors and colleagues at Regional Summit 2010 to share the celebration of accomplishments and begin the journey to a successful and sustainable future. Registration is now available online. Come to Regional Summit 2010 and help change the future of our region!
