Event Details — Repower America community discussion in Houston
Repower America, a project of the
Alliance for Climate Protection, has recently established it's Houston headquarters and is inviting everyone to attend a panel discussion and town hall meeting about creating "comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation NOW."
Founded in response to a
speech made by Al Gore in July 2008, in which he challenged the nation "to commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years," Repower America says it has a plan to:
• Jumpstart our economy & create millions of jobs
• Help end our dependence on foreign oil
• Reduce the threat of pollution
• Reward innovation & job creation
• Help solve the climate crisis
Speakers at the meeting will include local business leaders from the renewable energy, sustainability, and conservation communities:
Gabriel Alonso - CEO, Horizon Wind Energy
John Berger - CEO, Standard Renewable Energy (solar)
John Calaway - COO, Babcock and Brown (wind)
Michael Skelly - Principal, Clean Line Energy Partners
Bob Lukefahr - CEO, Tessera Solar
Jeff Chapman - President, Emerging Green Builders, LEED AP Eco-Services Kirksey Architects
