Jack Steele, Executive Director of the Houston-Galveston Area Council, will present on the State of the Region.
Jack Steele bio:
Jack has been Executive Director of the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) since 1979. In that position he directs the professional staff of a regional council serving 133 local government members, a service area of 12,500 square miles, and a budget of $261,000,000. H-GAC provides comprehensive intergovernmental services to its members in programs ranging from aging to water quality. Its responsibilities include programs in aging, emergency communications, homeland security, solid waste management, transportation planning, and workforce development. Jack Steele began his career in criminal justice planning, serving as Director of Criminal Justice for the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission and the Houston-Galveston Area Council. He holds BA and MA degrees in government from Lamar University. He has served on the Boards of various Houston area religious and civic organizations.
Livable Houston Initiative meetings are hosted by Houston Tomorrow, on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The Houston-Galveston Area Council generously provides the meeting space.
