Dr. Dmitry Messen, Socioeconomic Modeling Program Manager for the Houston-Galveston Area Council, will discuss the Houston area’s 2040 forecasts.
Regional growth forecasts from H-GAC traditionally draw a lot of interest from public and private decision makers. While the 2040 forecasting is still in process, Dmitry Messen will give a tour of the model and provide a snapshot of what he’s seeing so far.
Messen leads H-GAC’s efforts in developing microsimulation-based long-range demographic and land use forecasts for the Houston region. He is a quantitative social scientist with extensive expertise in modeling, regional and urban economics, geographic information systems, and data management. Dmitry holds a Ph.D. in Geography from Louisiana State University (1997) and a M.A. in Geography from Moscow State University (1992).
Livable Houston Initiative meetings are hosted by Houston Tomorrow, on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The Houston-Galveston Area Council generously provides the meeting space.
Free and open to the public. Bring your own lunch. RSVP online or call 713-523-5757.
