Event Details — Livable Houston Initiative - Sam Lott on Urban District Mobility
At the next Livable Houston Initiative brown-bag meeting on August 26, Sam Lott of Kimley-Horn & Associates will give a presentation titled "Urban District Mobility: Circulation Systems and their Operational Challenges."
This talk will explore the importance of planning for dedicated transit circulation systems within the densest urban districts of Houston. With the advent of mass transit on a larger scale in Houston, the next level of transportation planning must address the distribution of transit patrons over the “last mile” of their trip between their long distance “access mode” and their ultimate destination. The presentation will address the complexity of circulating significant quantities of transit users who will be arriving at the edge of our large urban centers, as well as providing internal circulation for people that live and work within the urban center. The discussion will explore concepts and planning criteria, potential technology applications, and state-of-the-art operational analysis methodology that has been developed to address these issues.
