12:00 - 1:30
@ H-GAC
3555 Timmons, 2nd Floor
Houston, TX
This month we are devoting our Livable Houston Initiative to an open community discussion facilitated by David Crossley to discuss the Urban Corridors Initiative that the City of Houston Planning Department is currently working on as well as walkability and transit-oriented development in general. We will be specifically inviting local representatives of the many different perspectives on this issue to participate.
Getting our policies and codes right for the emerging Houston light rail transit-accessible areas will allow Houstonians the option of a low-carbon lifestyle with better access to jobs and amenities while also reducing long term regional vehicle miles traveled and congestion. How can we do this in a Houston way that balances concerns of land owners, communities, small businesses, developers, the local economy, and our quality of life?
Also, the Mixed Use Committee that is working on the Urban Corridors effort will meet two hours after this meeting to discuss a new report from the Urban Land Institute on suggestions for this effort.
Free. Bring your own lunch.
