How the New Urbanism Advances Mobility and Safety Goals (While Building Better Communities at the Same Time)
Many of the transportation elements sought by New Urbanists, such as connected street networks, reduced vehicle operating speeds, and pedestrian-oriented street treatments are often opposed by traffic engineers due to concerns about their effects on mobility and safety.
