H-GAC and the Texas Department of Transportation will host a free Federal Highway Administration training course for state and local transportation professionals on August 26 and 27. Designing Streets for Pedestrian Safety is a two-day course that addresses pedestrian safety issues through design and engineering solutions. Course topics include:
Sidewalk and walkway design
Intersection geometry
Signs, signals, and crosswalks
Interchange designs and alternatives
Pedestrian safety at signalized intersections
Roundabouts with pedestrian accommodations
Connections to transit
Road diets and other traffic calming measures
