The Center for Natural Systems and the Family presents their third annual Symposium: Being Human: Lessons from Nature, Evolution and Bowen Theory. Find more info & register here.

Bowen theory provides a framework for considering both factors that contribute to problems and also options for adaptation in the best interests of each and all. This is called Differentiation of Self.

Bowen theory and Differentiation of Self are resources for understanding and dealing with many of the factors that have an impact on health and functioning. These are not limited to medicine or mental health professions but take a broad, scientific perspective. Anyone who is motivated to step back from the limits of cause and effect thinking will find the presentations highlight forces active in their own family and life on earth. Yes. Facts may stir anxiety but Bowen theory and Differentiation of Self help recognize anxious reactions and manage them without avoiding and without alarm, the “rock and the hard place” common in today’s world.

Family members, clergy, environmental scientists, physicians, therapists, academic researchers, writers, will find thinking that applies in their life and work. Both long-standing students of Bowen theory and individuals who are new to this way of understanding human nature and themselves will find this meeting useful.
There will be ample time for discussion in the conference itself. Camp Allen provides numerous settings, indoors and out of doors, for continued conversation.

Camp Allen Conference and Retreat Center is located just 45 minutes northwest of Houston situated on 950 acres of serene pine woods surrounding several lakes. The simple, quiet lodging rooms, the tables and rocking chairs around the grounds, chairs around stone fireplaces,  modern conference facilities and woodland paths provide many places for conference participants to engage in thinking, separately and together.  The dining hall serves an ample and varied menu,  Fresh pots of coffee are always available.

CSNSF is fortunate to have such a special location for its 2017 Symposium.  Registration will include all meals, your lodging (single or with a roommate), parking, conference location, the evening reception and dinner on Friday, as well as access to the grounds and chapel.
