An explanation of 350.org
Our mission is to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis - to create a new sense of urgency and of the possibility for our planet.
Our focus is on the number 350, as in parts per million - the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere.
But 350 is more than a number - it’s a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.
The event will involve a service project to pickup trash and recyclables around Central Houston, followed by a group photo, food, speeches, and music. All are encouraged to use alternative transportation to get to the event, to reduce your own personal carbon footprint for the day, by riding your bike, walking, taking transit, or at least carpooling to the event.
